Adding woes to cinema fans, Ajith Kumar's much-awaited film Valimai has been postponed indefinitely due to the shut down of theatres in many states across the country.

In the wake of the increasing Omicron COVID-19 cases across the country, many states have shut down theatres to curb the spread of the virus. Multiple films like RRR, Radhe Shyam, Bheemla Nayak, Prithviraj, and Jersey have been postponed, and Valimai, which was set for a Pongal release on January 13, is the latest addition to the list.

Producer Boney Kapoor of Bay View Projects took to Twitter to announce the news.

Directed by H Vinoth, Valimai has been in the making since 2019. The film has been postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film marks Vinoth's second collaboration with Ajith after the 2019 courtroom drama, Nerkonda Paarvai.

The film stars Huma Qureshi in a pivotal role, while Karthikeya plays the antagonist. The film also features Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa, Pugazh, among others in supporting roles.

Produced by Bayview Projects in association with Zee Studios, Valimai has cinematography by Nirav Shah and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

A new release date is yet to be announced.
