Actor Vijay, who cast his vote for the urban civic poll election last Saturday, arrived in a red Maruti Celerio car. Ever since his appearance, many rumours have surfaced that the actor has defaulted on his car insurance payments. The actor's PR has now put those rumours to rest. His publicist Riaz K Ahmed took to Twitter to share a copy of the car's insurance copy.

Sharing the photo of the insurance along with the posts that called the actor an insurance defaulter, the tweet said, "For the past few days, a news stating that Thalapathy Vijay's car insurance is still due has been doing the rounds on social media. Here is a copy of the insurance, in which it is clearly stated that the insurance is valid till May 28, 2022."

Incidentally, this isn't the first time the actor's tryst with the RTO department has made the headlines. Vijay had earlier filed a case in the Madras High Court for tax exemption for his luxury car - Rolls Royce - which he imported. But the actor was fined Rs 1 lakh for seeking tax exemption by the court. Vijay later went for an appeal and got a stay order. Later, the court ordered the actor to pay the entry tax for his Rolls Royce car following which Vijay reportedly paid a tax amount of Rs 40 lakh in total.

On the acting front, Vijay is awaiting the release of Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast. Also starring Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu and Shine Tom Chacko, the film is scheduled for theatrical release in April, 2022. Vijay is also prepping for a film with director Vamshi Paidipalli which will hit screens on Deepavali or Pongal 2023.
