Jigarthanda 2 to go on floors from this Sunday in Madurai
It was earlier announced that actors Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah, and Nimisha Sajayan are leading the cast of the film

The sequel to Karthik Subburaj’s critically acclaimed gangster drama Jigarthanda is all set to go on floors from 11 December with a pooja ceremony in Madurai. The director announced his plans to make Jigarthanda 2 a couple of months ago with a quirky short video where two glasses of Jigarthanda were placed on a table. In the following months, the project materialised soon with a casting announcement and plot details.
It was earlier announced that actors Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah, and Nimisha Sajayan are leading the cast of the film. SJ Suryah had earlier joined hands with Karthik Subburaj in the 2016 film Iraivi. Nimisha Sajayan, who is known for her roles in Malayalam films like The Great Indian Kitchen, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, and Nayattu, will be making her Tamil debut with Jigarthanda 2.
According to reports, the sequel will not be a continuation of the original film and will feature a new story and a new set of characters although the Madurai setting has been maintained. The 2014 action comedy film featured Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran, and Guru Somasundaram. Jigarthanda went on to win two National Film Awards: Best Supporting Actor for Bobby Simha and Best Editing for Vivek Harshan. The makers are yet to announce a release date for Jigarthanda 2
