10 Years of Anirudh Ravichander: Musician shares a video thanking fans

Anirudh Ravichander took to Twitter to thank his fans for all the love with a video clip

On this day in 2011, a unique song was released that grabbed eyeballs not just from Tamil Nadu or India but from across the world. The song was in Tanglish (a colloquial term for the mixture of English and Tamil). And it was composed by a 21-year old musician, who would later become a prominent figure in Indian music. You have come here reading the headline, so I will stop the build-up since you already know I am talking about Anirudh Ravichander and the song in question is Why This Kolaveri

Why This Kolaveri, a track from Dhanush's film 3, gave birth to a new genre of songs called 'Soup Songs'. The song became an instant YouTube sensation. Videos of many Indians and foreigners from across the world dancing to it went viral on YouTube. The tremendous success of the song left the fans expecting more from the youngster. And Anirudh has been living up to the expectations for the past decade.

So far, Anirudh has composed more than 20 albums, which include chartbusters like Vanakkam Chennai, Velaiyilla Pattathari, Kaththi, and Naanum Rowdydhaan.

Apart from being a composer, Anirudh also turned out to be a much-sought-after singer by other composers. He has sung many hit songs for other musicians like AR Rahman (Mersalaayiten), Nivas K Prasanna (Hey Mama), Sam CS (Yanji Yanji), Santhosh Narayana (Buji), and Hip Hop Tamizha (Takkunu Takkunu).

In a tweet, Anirudh has now thanked all his fans with a video clip. He wrote, "Today marks a decade of our first song release. Today marks 10 years of your abundant love towards us. Today is #10YearsofAnirudh. Love you all and here’s to the next 10."

He is currently basking in the success of his latest film Doctor, which is also being lauded for its background score. The composer has more exciting projects including Vikram, Don, and Indian 2.
