Ilaiyaraaja about SPB's demise: The world has become zero now

Ever since the news broke that legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away, fans from all over and people from the film industry have been expressing their condolences.

Veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja put out a heartfelt message about the demise of his long-time friend and collaborator SPB. "Balu... I had asked you to come back soon. I had said I wanted to meet you. But you didn't listen. You've left. Where did you go? Did you go to sing for the celestial beings? The world has become zero now. I don't know anything about this world anymore. I am at a loss for words," he said, and added after a long pause, "Every sadness has a limit. This does not."

SPB’s collaborations with Ilaiyaraaja attained cult status for ruling South Indian cinema in the 80s. Theirs was an iconic equation that commenced when Ilaiyaraaja and his brothers became musicians in SPB’s music group. Their work in both Tamil and Telugu continues to be revered by legions of fans.
