Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tie the knot in Lake Como, Italy

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were married on Wednesday at 7 am GMT at the picturesque Villa del Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy. The wedding ceremony was done in traditional Konkani-style in keeping with Deepika's background. Strict surveillance was levied to ensure that the ceremony remains a private affair and guests were instructed to click no pictures and videos of the grand wedding. The duo had also requested invitees to not bother with gifts and to instead donate to Deepika’s non-profit organisation, The Live Love Laugh Foundation.

While guests arrived on boats, Ranveer — true to his flamboyant persona — reportedly made a grand entry on an airplane. The newlyweds will also have a Sindhi style wedding ceremony on Thursday, following which they will return to India to host their friends and family in Mumbai on Friday.

Deepika and Ranveer, who were dating for the last six years, have appeared on screen together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat (2018). Ranveer also made a cameo appearance in Deepika’s 2013 film, Finding Fanny

Deepika will be next seen in Raazi-director Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film on acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Ranveer’s upcoming release is the Rohit Shetty-directed masala entertainer, Simmba. He will also be seen opposite Alia Bhatt in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, which hits the screens on Valentine's Day.
