Alia Bhatt to star in and produce Darlings

Alia Bhatt will star in and produce Darlings, a dark comedy based on a quirky mother-daughter relationship. The film is being helmed by debutant Jasmeet K Reen. It also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Verma and Roshan Mathew. 

Darlings is set in Mumbai against the backdrop of a conservative lower-middle-class neighbourhood. It traces the lives of two women as they find courage and love in exceptional circumstances. 

Earlier today, Alia announced her own production house — Eternal Sunshine Productions — and shared the company's logo. She is producing Darlings as her maiden venture. The film is being co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment.

“I am really excited to be part of Darlings,” Alia shared. “It's a powerful story with a lot of humour and doses of dark comedy. I am thrilled to have Darlings as my first film as producer, that too in collaboration with my favourite, Shah Rukh Khan and Red Chillies.”

Darlings is written by Parveez Sheikh and Jasmeet. The film will go on floors this month.
