Amitabh Bachchan has shared in an Instagram post that he used to be a fan of The Lone Ranger comic strip series in the 1950s.

The Lone Ranger is a popular icon of American culture, a masked ranger who took on the wild west with his native American friend, Tonto. The characters’ first comic appearance dates back to 1938.

In 2013, Gore Verbinski directed a popular film adaptation called The Lone Ranger, starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp.

“Remembering the School days in the 1950’s and my most favourite comics ‘The Lone Ranger’ and his deputy Tonto,” Bachchan wrote, joking that he never thought he would look like the character one day (wearing masks).

“Never ever thought 71 years later I would start looking like my favourite!” he wrote.

To be fair, Big B has played a masked vigilante before, in the 1991 superhero film Ajooba. And in Sholay, he took on a gang of bandits with his own sidekick - Dharmendra’s Veeru.
