Veer Savarkar biopic: Makers to approach Ayushmann Khurrana, Randeep Hooda or Rajkummar Rao?

Last week, producers Sandeep Singh and Amit B Wadhwani announced a biopic on Vinayak Damodar Sawarkar. Titled SwatantraVeer Savarkar, the film will be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar.

As per speculation, the makers are planning to approach actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Randeep Hooda or Rajkummar Rao to essay the central character.

Addressing the rumours, a trade analyst said the makers need to get a versatile actor on board to headline the biopic.

“Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Randeep Hooda are some of the most talented actors of our generation,” the source said. “All three of them are known for their dedication to the movie projects they work in, which makes them the perfect choice for the role. While Hooda lost 20 kgs for Sarbjit in 18 days, Rao showcased great physical transformations for his movies Trapped and Badhaai Do. Ayushmann too has proved his mettle by learning appropriate accents and dialects for his movies. It will be interesting to see who the makers finalize as their lead.”

The upcoming film will be shot across London, the Andamans and Maharashtra. Sandeep Singh had previously produced PM Narendra Modi in 2019.
