Maitreyi Ramakrishnan to star in The Netherfield Girls
The film is a modern reimagination of the Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, whose breakout role came in last year's Mindy Kaling-produced, Netflix series Never Have I Ever, is set to star in yet another Netflix project, The Netherfield Girls. The romantic comedy will mark the Canadian actor's feature film debut.
Billed as a modern reimagination of the Jane Austen novel Pride and Prejudice, the new film features Ramakrishnan as Lizzie Bennet, the beloved novel's protagonist. The Netherfield Girls will be helmed by Becca Gleason, who has directed Joey King-starrer Summer '03 in 2018.
Gleason, who recently served as a consulting producer on the upcoming Amazon series The Summer I Turned Pretty, will be penning the screenplay as well.
Produced by Temple Hill Entertainment, the streaming date of The Netherfield Girls is expected to be announced shortly.
