Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors is in talks to star opposite Michael B Jordan in Creed III. If he is cast, the actor will play Jordan's character Adonis Creed's boxing ring nemesis in the film.

Creed is the reboot franchise of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky franchise. The 2015 Ryan Coogler film Creed introduced the story of Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, Rocky's rival in the 1976 film Rocky. Both Creed and its 2018-sequel were met with critical acclaim and box-office success.

The third instalment in the franchise will also mark Jordan's directorial debut. The film will bring back the characters played by Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad. However, it was recently announced that Creed III will not feature Stallone's Rocky Balboa. The film has a script written by Zach Baylin and Keenan Coogler.

Meanwhile, Majors is known for his 2019 film The Last Black Man in San Francisco and for the first season of HBO's Lovecraft Country. He most recently co-starred in Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods for Netflix, and he is set to play Kang the Conqueror in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He will also be seen in Jeymes Samuel's Western The Harder They Fall for Netflix, and Black Label Media’s Devotion.
