Roohi co-writer Gautam Mehra to feature in Chutzpah
Produced by Maddock Films, the new series will stream from July 23
From being a writer for Maddock Films’ horror comedy Roohi to acting in their debut OTT project, actor-writer Gautam Mehra has come a long way. Chutzpah, Gautam's new series, will stream on SonyLIV from July 23.
Talking about his journey as an actor-writer, Gautam informs, “I have theatre background. While writing, I was also simultaneously auditioning for acting assignments. While working on Roohi, I got to know about Chutzpah that they (Maddock Outsider) were producing. I got to know it’s an ensemble cast and I was adamant that I want to audition for it. And then the lockdown happened.”
“Maddock sent me the script of Chutzpah and told me that everybody is doing self-test and asked me to do the same. They shortlisted me for the character Kevin. I gave audition for the show with the creators, Simarpreet Singh and Mrighdeep Lamba and then I was finalised for the show,” says Gautam, adding “Everybody whom I have worked with so far knows that I am an actor-writer. People call me especially for the way I narrate scripts. When I narrated the script of ‘Roohi’ to Dinesh Vijan, he was quite excited. It’s wonderful working with Maddock anyway, as they give you a lot of creative freedom as writer and actor. After so many years and after hundreds of auditions, I am glad I cracked a role in an interesting show like Chutzpah.”
Besides Gautam, the show features Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Tanya Maniktala, Elnaaz Norouzi and Kshitij Chauhan amongst others.
