After thousands of fans held a meeting at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai on Sunday, Superstar Rajinikanth has issued a statement today requesting his fans to not hold such mass demonstrations or urge him to reconsider his decision.
Thousands of dejected fans and followers gathered at Valluvar Kottam yesterday, urging the superstar to reconsider his decision to not join politics. They even raised slogans like "Vaa Thalaiva vaa" to put across the message. It is to be noted that the rally was held despite Rajini Makkal Mandram asking the supporters to not hold such demonstrations.
Reacting to the meeting, Rajinikanth issued a statement saying, "I thank you all for holding the event in an orderly fashion. However, it saddens me that the demonstration was held in violation of the leadership's orders. My heartfelt thanks to those who did not participate in the protest, in line with the leadership request. I have already elaborated on the reasons as to why I am not entering politics now, and I have already announced my decision. I humbly request you all to not conduct such events and force me to enter politics and cause me pain"
The actor, on December 29, had announced that he will not be joining politics due to his health, which will not allow him effectively campaign and do ground-work for the elections. The news came just days before his new party was all set to be announced.
