Rajinikanth: SPB had something special which no other singer had

Superstar Rajinikanth posted a tribute video on Twitter for the late legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam who passed away in Chennai today.

The singer, who had earlier tested negative for COVID-19 on September 4, was on maximum life support measures. On Thursday, his health deteriorated, and he later suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest and breathed his last this afternoon.

SP Balasubrahmanyam provided the voice-over dubbing for Rajinikanth in many languages. It is noteworthy to mention that most of Rajinikanth's chartbuster songs from albums like Thalapathi, Ejamaan, Manithan, Shivaji The Boss, and many more, were sung by SPB

In the video shared by the superstar, he expressed his condolences and said, "It’s a sorrowful day today. After fighting for his life till his last breath, SPB sir has left us. His demise is shocking and is painful news to me. I don’t think there’s anybody in the whole of India who is not a fan of his voice and his songs. People who knew him well, loved him for the person he was, more than his voice and his songs, and the reason for that was his humble, humane nature. He loved, respected and honored everyone irrespective of their age. He was such an affectionate, humble person."

Rajini continued, "The Indian film industry has created a lot of famous singers, like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Ghantasala, TM Soundararajan... But SP Balasubrahmanyam had something special that none of them had. And that speciality was the fact that all of these legendary singers sang only in their own languages, but SPB sir has sung is several languages across India. Hence, his fame grew across India, and especially in Southern India, there is no one who doesn’t know about the legacy of SPB. We will hear his sweet, magnificent voice for hundreds of years to come. But to think that the person with such a voice is no more with us is depressing. A huge singer, a lovable soul and a big mahaan. I express my deepest condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace."
