Yami Gautam will play the lead in Behzad Khambata’s upcoming film, A Thursday. Produced by RSVP and Blue Monkey Films, the thriller will star Yami as a playschool teacher who takes 16 toddlers hostage. Events go out of control and the public and media scrutiny tear her apart, questioning her sanity and the possible reason for the heinous act.

A Thursday is one of those rare scripts that come your way that you just cannot put down,” Yami shared. “Behzad has written one of the strongest characters for any female protagonist. Naina, who I will be essaying, is both fierce and endearing.”

Yami had appeared in RSVP’s 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike. Speaking about the new collaboration, producer Ronnie Screwvala said, “Yami is a phenomenal actor and seeing her in a grey avatar will be interesting for the audiences. Behzad has done an outstanding job on the script and I'm backing his vision to bring this to life.”

A Thursday is slated for a direct-to-digital release in 2021.

Yami will also be seen in the upcoming films Ginny Weds Sunny and Bhoot Police.
