Anurag Kashyap appears at Versova Police station for questioning in sexual assault case

Director Anurag Kashyap appeared today at the Versova Police station in Mumbai to record his statement in connection with the sexual assault case against him.

Last month, Bollywood actress, Payal Ghosh, had accused Anurag of sexual misconduct on Twitter. She had subsequently filed an FIR against the director, accusing him of raping her at her flat on Yari Road in Mumbai in 2013. Anurag, via his lawyer, had denied the allegations as ‘false’ and  ‘malicious’. He had further tweeted in Hindi clarifying about the alleged incident.

“I do not engage in such behaviour or tolerate it. We shall see whatever happens. One can see in your video how much of it is truth and how much of it isn't. Blessings and love to you. Apologies for answering your English with my Hindi. There will be many more attacks. This is just the start. I have received many calls asking me to shut up and not say a word. I am aware that I have no clue yet where all the attacks are going to come from. I am waiting,” the director had written.

On September 28, Payal Ghosh had met with Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale. She had also requested Y-security from the Governor citing a threat to her life.
