Nawazuddin Siddiqui tests negative for coronavirus, quarantined at ancestral home

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his family have been quarantined at their ancestral home in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh. The actor had travelled from Mumbai to UP amid the lockdown after receiving permission from the authorities. After reaching Budhana, Nawazuddin and his family underwent medical tests and have tested negative for the coronavirus. However, they have been asked to remain in home quarantine till May 29.

Nawazuddin clarified on Twitter that he travelled to Budhana to be with his ailing mother and not to celebrate Eid, as was previously reported. “Due to the recent loss of my younger sister, my mother who is 71 years old got anxiety attack twice. We have followed all the guidelines given by the state government. We are home quarantined at our hometown Budhana,” he wrote.

Nawazuddin’s sister Syama Tamshi Siddiqui had passed away due to cancer in December last year. She was 26.

On the work front, Nawazuddin’s upcoming release is Ghoomketu. The film, which also stars Anurag Kashyap, will premiere on ZEE5 on May 22.
