The South Indian Chamber of Commerce released a statement today thanking finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for considering their plea to address the issues with TDS (Tax Deduction at Source) levied on distributors' income.
The Centre has agreed to review their problems and has ordered to constitute a special ten-member committee comprising Sumalatha, minister of parliamentary affairs mine and coal, Kattragada Prasad, president of South Indian Chamber of Commerce, and several others.
The film distributors' association had earlier announced that they will not release any new films after March 27 in protest against TDS. The association had asked the state government to hold talks with the Centre and remove the TDS.
