Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the audio launch of Vijay's Master was not conducted in a grand fashion. Instead, the makers chose to conduct the event at a star hotel in Chennai. The audio launch, which took place today at Leela Palace, was streamed online and became the talking point on social media.

While three songs from the album had already been launched as singles, the remaining five songs were launched at the event. The album has lyrics by Arunraja Kamaraj, Vignesh Shivn, the assistant director-turned-lyricist Vishnu, Kaka Bala, and rapper Arivu. Interestingly, the Master album has no credited female vocalists in its tracklist.

Speaking at the event, Anirudh shared that he had composed the album a fan himself. “Kaththi was my first big break and Master is the second time I got to collaborate with Vijay. I hope he likes the BGM as much as he liked the songs.” Taking the stage later, director Lokesh observed that it is his first audio launch, even though it is his third film. “Thanks Thalapathy Vijay na, for such a big opportunity. Thanks Vijay Sethupathi na, for accepting this film without even listening to the entire script,” he said.

Vijay Sethupathi, who is plays the film's antagonist, was his usual charming self. He touched upon several social issues apart from thanking the cast and crew. “There is one more virus — fighting in the name of God. God will take care of itself, don't believe humans who say they are ‘saving Gods’," he said. He and Vijay later had a sweet moment on stage when Vijay returned the much popular kiss that Sethupathi had given him on the last day of shoot.

The audio launches of Vijay's films bear a lot of importance as Vijay tends to open up about criticisms he faces and the general political scene of the state. A few of his lines have become part of the state's pop culture like his one-liner "Ummnu...Gummunu...Jammnunu".

His speech at today's audio launch was not disappointing either as the actor spoke about the frequent income tax raids that happen at his house.

Here are few of the key things he said while speaking at Master audio launch:

"We should keep flowing like a river. Kill them all with your success. Bury them with your success."

"At times, to be honest, you have to be silent (Sila samayam unmaya irukanumna oomaiya irukanum)"

"I asked Vijay Sethupathi why he accepted such a role in Master. He just said four words: 'Because I like you'. That's it."

When asked what he would ask from the Vijay of 20 years ago, he said, "I would ask for that life from him. It was very peaceful without raids (Appa irundha vaazhkaiya kepaen... Nimmadhiya irundhuthu raid-ellam illama)."

"Lokesh wouldn't have the scene paper in his hands. No one would have it either. First-u rendu moonu naal mana ulachaluku ul aanaen. I was wondering how I am going to spend 3-4 months with him."

"Malavika Mohanan has a pretty face. If she learns Tamil, she would become a leading actress in Tamil cinema."

"I am sad that my fans couldn't attend the audio launch."

Perhaps, the biggest highlight of the event was when Vijay said, "Nanbar Ajith madhuri polaamnu coat pottutu vandhurukaen." Of course, fans went berserk at that.
