Singer-songwriter Shaktishree Gopalan, in collaboration with songwriter Salwin Alfred, has come up with an independent single, Birds and the bees. The single release, which happened on Friday, coincided with pride month and celebrates the freedom of love.

A serene and layered number about love without boundaries, Shaktishree believes the spirit of the song resonates with the liberation of the soul through love beyond all barriers.

In Birds and the bees, Shaktishree has collaborated with notable musicians like singer-songwriter Michael Anthony Dais, who has played the guitar for the song, Siddharth Kumar on the keys and Naveen Napier on the bass. Recording engineer Avinash Sathish of 20db studios is also part of the song along with Toby Joseph, who has mixed and mastered the track.

Shaktishree is well-known for her work with composers like AR Rahman, Anirudh Ravichander, Harris Jayaraj and Santhosh Narayan. She sings in multiple languages for both cinema and as an independent artist. Birds and the bees is the next song in the line of independent singles that she has released like Begin, Cycle Gap and Wake Up.
