Poonam Kaur slams 'Guruji'

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death has once again fuelled debates about mental health across the country. Actor Poonam Kaur, who rose to fame with films like Souryam, Gaganam, and Srinivasa Kalyanam, revealed today that she has been in therapy for depression. In a volley of tweets, the actor blamed a Telugu film director named 'Guruji' for her condition.

"A very humble and gentle approach to resolving the issue was responded with the deaf ear. I was shocked and I am still not out of the shocks given to me for nothing I have done. I am startled with what happened with Sushant Singh Rajput and I don’t want to end up like him. Still under therapy!" tweeted Poonam.

She remarked that the director controls the media, film industry and the advertising industry and also alleged that her friend's efforts to reach out to him for assistance were in vain. "My friend approached the director not once but twice...thrice saying Poonam is unwell and she is completely not ok... can we do something about this situation?" wrote the actor.

Poonam expressed shock that he never kept his word to help her cope with her problems. She added that when she sought the director's help after she developed suicidal thoughts, she didn't get the right response from him, due to his indecisive behaviour, often with an escapist mentality. "I asked him again can we resolve this situation? Can I talk? I feel sick and suicidal. The director says, 'emi zargadu ..... nuvvu chachipotey one day news untavu'...this one sentence and his escaping approach made me feel so shitty about myself," wrote Poonam.

She went on to claim that Guruji, who is known for his strong political ties, spoke at length of late actor Savitri on the stage, but always imported heroines and never encouraged local Telugu actors. "And for a fact, I never approached him for anything other than resolving an issue, his delaying and manipulative techniques, misusing the power given by ministers and friends... casting only your muses...doing nothing but bhajana... You want to silently ban me, it’s fine, but you are no guruji. Speaking about Savitri garu on the stage and never ever promoting a local talent," said Poonam.

Poonam also called Guruji out for allegedly stopping his friend from reuniting with his estranged wife. The actor also alleged that Guruji has carried out his plans in his friend's case for his own benefit.

Interestingly, a sensational director and a veteran director, who passed away a few years ago, are both known as Gurujis in the industry. But it's unclear which Guruji was Poonam referring to. When Cinema Express contacted the Souryam actor, she remained unavailable for comment.
