FIR against Rhea Chakraborty by Sushant's father for abetment of the actor's suicide

Earlier, Rhea, via an Instagram post, had requested Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a CBI inquiry on Sushant's demise

We had previously reported that the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput is being investigated by the Mumbai police, who have already interrogated about 40 people.

It's now known that Sushant's father, Krishna Kumar Singh has filed an FIR, in his hometown Patna, against the late actor's girlfriend and actor Rhea Chakraborty. ANI reported that a quote from a police official read, "FIR registered against actor Rhea Chakraborty under various sections, including abetment of suicide, on the complaint of Sushant Singh Rajput's father: Sanjay Singh, Inspector General, Patna Central Zone."

Earlier, Rhea, via an Instagram post, had requested Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a CBI inquiry on Sushant's demise. She posted a picture of Sushant and captioned it: "Respected Amit Shah sir, I’m Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. It is now over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government. However, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry into this matter. I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step."

Fellow actor Shekhar Suman, who had been urging for a CBI enquiry, tweeted earlier today, saying, "Good news coming in. Presumably, the cops from Patna are in Bombay already after an FIR has been filed by Sushant's family and a SIT has been formed to investigate the matter." In another tweet, he also said, "Case filed against Rhea and her family under section 306 for abetment to suicide..also section 340 and 342."

While the police have already recorded the statement of Yash Raj Films casting director Shanoo Sharma and director-producer Aditya Chopra, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's statement was recorded yesterday. The head of Karan Johar's production house, Apoorva Mehta has also met the cops and Karan Johar is likely to be called in to record his statement soon.

Sushant Singh Rajput died, reportedly by suicide, at his Mumbai home on June 14. He was 34. His final film, Dil Bechara, was released last Friday on Disney+ Hotstar.
