Ronnie Screwvala: Hollywood has gone bankrupt in terms of ideas and scripts
The film producer and entrepreneur spoke during the conversation with Editorial Director of The New Indian Express Prabhu Chawla and Senior Journalist Kaveree Bamzai, as a part of the E-Expressions

Film producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronnie Screwvala during the conversation with Editorial Director of The New Indian Express Prabhu Chawla and Senior Journalist Kaveree Bamzai, as a part of the E-Expressions' webinar said, "Digital platforms are the arena where best stories are going to be told and best talents are going to be exhibited," when asked about the evolution of the entertainment industry and storytelling.
He added, "Hollywood has gone bankrupt in terms of ideas and scripts. They have settled for franchise films and action thrillers. Good stories on the west are also told in digital now. The OTT platforms give the creator the space to be more flexible with his product not being concerned about the time restrictions."
Ronnie also expressed that the mandatory interval format in Indian films is killing the movie viewing experience of the audience. "Intervals in theatres slows down the plot by 20 minutes. The filmmakers have to go through the difficulty of reminding their audience where the story paused, before proceeding ahead," he said.
