Kelly Preston dies of breast cancer aged 57

Kelly Preston, who is best known for starring alongside Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Twins, has died at the age of 57 after battling breast cancer for about two years. Her husband John Travolta, 66, took to social media and penned an emotional note following her demise.

"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many," he wrote.

"Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while," he added in his Instagram post.

Preston is survived by her husband and their two children. The couple has been married for 29 years. Their daughter Ella Travolta wrote, "I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful and loving as you... I love you so much mama."

Condolences have been pouring in for the actor and the family. She was most recently seen on screen with  John Travolta in Gotti (2018).
