Lyca Productions responds to Kamal, asks actor to deal with the incident in the spirit of collective responsibility

Following Kamal Haasan's letter to Lyca Productions calling for a safety audit of the Indian 2 sets, where an accident occurred last week, the production house has responded. In the reply, Neelkant Narayanpur, the director of Lyca, has answered all the queries raised by the actor.

Lyca's letter begins with Neelkant informing Kamal that Subaskaran, Chairman of Lyca, rushed to the mortuary to pay his respects to the deceased. "Mr Subaskaran also announced financial assistance to the tune of 2 crores to the family of the deceased and those who suffered injuries, and also undertook to take care of their treatment," the letter read.

Stating that "incidents of this nature need to be dealt with in the spirit of collective responsibility and rectification. Given the involvement of an eminent artist and technician of your calibre and a veteran of Shankar's stature being the captain of the ship, we were doubly confident that our own safety measures will be amplified by your on-spot judgement," Neelkant added that the entire shoot was under the supervision and control of the actor-director duo.

"As regards the safety measure at our end, we left no stone unturned," he continues, adding that Executive Producer Sundarrajan and Deputy Executive Producer KI Manikandan (a) Vimal (who was recommended by Shankar himself) were in charge of the entire production of the film and ensured the safety measures in place. The letter concludes by asserting that the production house has sought additional explanation from these two to ensure that all safety practices were adhered to.
