Girish AD, who made an impressive directorial debut with the high-school coming-of-age drama Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, has announced his next titled Super Sharanya. Girish will direct from his original script. The film, which reteams him with Thanneer Mathan Dinangal producer Shebin Backer, is a college-based story.

Arjun Ashokan (Unda, Varathan) and Anaswara Rajan (Thanneer Mathan Dinangal) have been cast as the male and female leads, respectively. Naslen, who became popular through Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, is also part of the film. The rest of the cast is being finalised.

Shebin tells us the film was supposed to go on floors in April, but got postponed due to the pandemic. "This is not a film that can be shot with a minimum crew. As it's a campus story, it's got a fair amount of outdoor locations. So we decided to wait till December," he says, adding that the film will be a family-friendly entertainer just like Thanneer Mathan Dinangal.

Sajith Purushan (Unda) will be handling the camera and Akash Joseph Varghese the editing. Justin Varghese will work on the music.

Arjun Ashokan, who was last seen in Stand Up, has Rajeev Ravi's Thuramukham, Member Rameshan 9th Ward, Thattassery Koottam, and Tinu Pappachan's Ajagajantharam coming up next.

Meanwhile, we asked Shebin for an update on the OTT release of Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, and he informs us that discussions are going on. "As it was running successfully in theatres at the time of release, the usual terms and conditions of an OTT release weren't acceptable for us. So we had pushed it."
