Lockdown Love: Priyanshu Painyuli, Shriya Pilgaonkar team up for a virtual play

Actors Priyanshu Painyuli and Shriya Pilgaonkar have teamed up for a virtual play titled Lockdown Love. Directed by Sheena Khalid and hosted by Roshan Abbas (who also doubles up as tech director), the play is adapted from Jonathan Rand’s Check Please. It presents a modern-day take on romance in the times of a pandemic. The supporting cast includes Tanmay Danania, Ashwin Mushran, Kira Narayanan, and Sheena herself.

Lockdown Love is the story of a guy and a girl who go on different online dates with random weird people, till they accidentally log into a window where they meet each other and connect,” Priyanshu shared. “It's about how, even in these difficult times, sometimes one keeps looking and hoping to find love.”

For the play, each actor rehearsed from their respective houses. The tech support and direction were provided through zoom video chats. “Tess Joseph did a fantastic casting on this one and I had a great time working on this. We are hoping to do one every weekend,” adds Priyanshu, who will also be seen in the upcoming Netflix thriller, Extraction
