Parthiban requests distributors to extend theatre run of Oththa Seruppu Size 7
Written, directed, produced and starring Parthiban, Oththa Seruppu Size 7 is running successfully in theatres now
Parthiban's Oththa Seruppu Size 7 has been receiving positive reviews from critics and audiences. The actor, who has produced, written, directed and starred in the film, released a note to the distributors, requesting them to extend its run in theatres.
"The film was not produced by a big shot. But at the same time, it wasn't shot just for the sake of it. This was a film from an artist, who trusted his instincts and took a loan to produce it, with the hopes of providing good cinema for the audience," said Parthiban.
With Oththa Seruppu Size 7 successfully crossing three days in theatres, and heading into its second week, the actor-director added, "The opening day was dull; only 10-15 people came out to watch it. But thankfully, it picked up on the second and third day. On Monday, a day not particularly known for people to go to theatres, the reception was encouraging with 60-70 people coming out to watch the film."
Parthiban went on to say that films like Oththa Seruppu Size 7 require a certain amount of breathing time to pick up. "The next set of films are coming this Friday. A passion project like Oththa Seruppu only comes once in a while. A film cannot receive its due appreciation once it has been taken away from the theatres."
The actor spoke about how he understands the pressure faced by distributors to accommodate a new set of films each week, but is requesting an exception for Oththa Seruppu Size 7. "I would be grateful if my film is allowed to run in theatres for another week. Please give the film the pick-up time it deserves. People are slowly becoming aware of the film and are coming out to watch it. A big thank you to the people who went to see it. Please continue giving life to the film," he concluded.
