Archana Kalpathi, creative producer of Bigil, clarifies regarding the release date of the Vijay-starrer

Earlier today, rumours were rife that AGS are keen to bring Bigil to the fans exactly on Diwali, and will therefore release the film on Sunday

With Vijay's upcoming film with Atlee, Bigil, in post-production, the makers recently announced that the film's grand audio launch will be held on September 19 at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai.

AGS Entertainment, the producers of the film, have already announced that the worldwide release will be on Diwali. The festival date, October 27, falls on a Sunday and the trade was of the opinion that the film will hit the screens on Friday, October 25 or even the previous day.

But, earlier today, reports suggested that AGS was keen to bring Bigil to fans exactly on Diwali day, and would, therefore, release the film on Sunday. If so, it will be an unusual release as traditionally Tamil films have hit the screens mostly on Fridays and sometimes on Thursdays.

However, soon afterwards, Archana Kalpathi of AGS Entertainment, took to Twitter to issue a clarification and requested the fans to not speculate on the film's release date. "We can announce the date only after the censor certification. Please trust us to find the perfect day that will create new records at the box office," she tweeted.

Bigil is said to be a sports drama, with the Sarkar-actor playing dual roles of a football player-turned-coach son and a gangster father. Starring Nayanthara as the female lead, the film also features Indhuja, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha, and Reba Monica John as footballers, whose team will be coached by Vijay's character. Apart from them, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Vivekh, and Yogi Babu are also part of the Bigil, playing supporting characters.
