Vidya Balan's Shakuntala Devi biopic goes on floors, first look out

Vidya Balan’s next, Shakuntala Devi - Human Computer, went on floors in London today. The film is a biopic of Indian writer and mental calculator Shakuntala Devi, whose arithmetic skills earned her a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1982.

The first look poster of Vidya as Shakuntala Devi was released today. Directed by Anu Menon, and co-produced by Sony Pictures and Abundantia Entertainment, the film is set for release in Summer 2020.

“I have always been fascinated by Shakuntala Devi and truly felt that hers is an incredible story that had to be told. She was an extraordinary woman, who lived ahead of her times and on her own terms, unapologetically,” Anu said.

Vikram Malhotra, co-producer, Abundantia Entertainment, added, “Abundantia has always been at the forefront of supporting progressive and insightful stories. I am delighted that we are extending our content philosophy further with this exciting story. Shakuntala Devi is, even now, one-of-a-kind and I’m certain that this unique story, especially with the amazing Vidya Balan in the lead, will connect with audiences across generations.”

Vidya Balan recently essayed a space scientist in Mission Mangal. She was also seen in a guest appearance in her debut Tamil film, the Ajith-starrer Nerkonda Paarvai.
