Robert Downey Jr returns to MCU for Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow

Robert Downey Jr, who bid adieu his iconic role as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Endgame, will return to the MCU to feature in the much-anticipated Black Widow stand-alone film.

Starring Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, and a member of the Avengers, the film is scheduled for release on May 1, 2020.

While it is widely reported that Downey Jr will indeed be back as Tony Stark, it is unclear if he will appear as the "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" Stark or suit up as Iron Man.

Set to be directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow also stars Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and OT Fagbenle.
