Ava DuVernay, Sam Rockwell to be honoured at the IFP Gotham Awards

Ava DuVernay and Sam Rockwell are set to receive awards at the 2019 IFP Gotham Awards, scheduled to take place on December 2 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. DuVernay will receive the Director Tribute award and Rockwell will receive the Actor Tribute award. Last year, the tributes went to director Paul Greengrass and actor Willem Dafoe.

DuVernay, whose film credits include the Oscar-nominated Selma and A Wrinkle In Time, most recently directed Nefllix’s four-part When They See Us, which premiered in June and earned 16 Emmy nominations. She will next direct Warner Bros’ DC comic book tentpole The New Gods.

On the other hand, Rockwell won the supporting actor Oscar for his performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for portraying George W Bush in Adam McKay’s Vice. Earlier this year, Rockwell earned an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Bob Fosse in FX’s Fosse/Verdon.
