Even before Vijay’s Bigil hits the screens, speculations are already rife about the Mersal-actor’s next film. The yet-to-be-titled project, tentatively referred to as Thalapathy 64, is directed by Maanagaram-fame Lokesh Kanagaraj.

With the film's crew being recently announced by its makers, Lokesh, in a recent interview to a popular Tamil magazine, has opened up for the first time on Thalapathy 64. Although he refused to reveal details, claiming it as premature, he did say that the audience will witness Vijay in a never-seen-before avatar in the film.

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Vijay might be playing a college student once again after Nanban. Reports also suggest that Vijay Sethupathi has been approached for the antagonist role in Thalapathy 64. Names like Raashi Khanna, Kabir Singh-fame Kiara Advani, and Rashmika Mandanna are speculated to star as the female lead in the film, which is produced by Xavier Britto.

Rumours are also rife that Angamaly Diaries-fame Antony Varghese has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film. In addition, Arjun's name has also been making the rounds.

Produced by Xavier Britto, the crew from the director's upcoming film Kaithi, starring Karthi, has pretty much been retained for Thalapathy 64. The music of the film will be composed by Anirudh. Thalapathy 64 is scheduled for release for summer 2020.
