Kaniha joins the cast of Vijay Sethupathi's next 

Kaniha, best known for her role is 5 Star, has joined Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming musical thriller, directed by Venkata Krishna Roganth. The film is currently being shot at Kodaikanal and stars Megha Akash as the female lead.

“I wanted someone whom we haven’t seen on screen for a while for this particular role as that would add to the character’s impact. While Kaniha has been doing films in Malayalam, she hasn’t acted as much in Tamil. So, I felt she’d be right for this character, which will drive the story,” says Roganth, from Kodaikanal.

The director goes on to assure that the role will not be a cameo and will have substantial value.

Previously, Kaniha had appeared in a cameo in Mani Ratnam’s 2015 film O Kadhal Kanmani. This will mark a proper return of the actor after Ajith's Varalaru.

“For all those who always wanted me back in Tamil cinema, I’m back and happy to be sharing the screen with my most favourite actor,” Kaniha posted on her Facebook page. Sharing a picture of herself with Vijay Sethupathi, she wrote, “Dream come true. Definitely happy moments for the actor and fan girl in me.”

According to the director, 50 per cent of shooting has been completed and the remaining portions will be shot in Chennai.
