Naga Chaitanya in Badhaai Ho remake?
Producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the remake rights of Badhaai Ho for all the south Indian languages
Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the remake rights of Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Badhaai Ho for all the south Indian languages. He will be collaborating with producer Dil Raju for the Telugu remake and we hear, the duo are considering actor Naga Chaitanya to reprise Ayushmann's role in the Telugu version.
"Boney and Nagarjuna go back a long way and they have mutual respect for each other. When he expressed his desire to produce Badhaai Ho in Telugu, Naga Chaitanya's name popped up. The actor is also interested to work in the film as he liked the Hindi version and believes that the concept resonates with all sections of the audience. The makers are currently looking out for a director who could package it neatly, on par with the original," informs a source.
Directed by Amit Ravindrenath Sharma, Badhaai Ho is the story of a middle-aged couple, who unexpectedly get pregnant and become a talking point in the local circles. How their children come to term with this news forms the crux of the story.
The Hindi version was a runaway hit and veteran actor Surekha Sikri, who played Ayushmann’s grandmother in the film, recently won a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role.
