ZEE5 announces biopic on Indian basketball player Satnam Singh Bhamara

An upcoming digital film will explore the life of Indian basketball player Satnam Singh Bhamara. At the age of 19, Satnam, who hails from Punjab, became the first Indian to be drafted in the National Basketball Association (NBA) when he joined the Dallas Mavericks in 2015. He played for St John’s Edge in the National Basketball League of Canada last season and was recently acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies for the NBA. Back home, Satnam has represented India in various tournaments.

Zee Studios is producing the film on Satnam’s life for its streaming platform ZEE5. Excited about the biopic, Satnam says, "It feels unreal that a film is being made on me! As a sportsman, I have always loved films based on sports, and I feel honoured that this film is my story. What excites me most is that this is a basketball film, the first of its kind. I hope that the film will boost the game and more kids will want to try it out."

The cast and crew of the film are yet to be announced.

Earlier, Satnam was the subject of the Netflix documentary, One in a Billion
