Directed by Siddharth Anand, War was released on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The film opened to a record-breaking Rs 53.35 crore on Day 1. It became the biggest opener for a Hindi film ever, beating last year’s Thugs of Hindostan. War also became the biggest opener Hrithik and Tiger.

War was released in 4000 screens in India in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. An additional 150-200 screens were added on Friday. Overseas, the film is playing in 1350 screens.

This is the fifth film from Yash Raj Films to cross the hundred crore mark in three days. The feat was previously achieved by Dhoom 3, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Thugs of Hindostan.
