Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff’s War has received the highest opening for a Hindi film ever. Released on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), the film earned Rs 53.35 crore net on its opening day, surpassing the record of last year’s Thugs of Hindostan (Rs 52 crore). 

War was released in 4,000 screens in India in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The action thriller has emerged as the biggest opener of Yash Raj Films. It has also become the highest opener for Hrithik and Tiger. 

Delighted with the box-office response, director Siddharth Anand said, “It is truly overwhelming and gratifying to get this kind of love from audiences for our hard work in making War a truly big-screen spectacle.” 

War follows rogue agent Kabir (Hrithik) as he is hunted down by his protégé Khalid (Tiger Shroff). The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Anupriya Goenka and Soni Razdan. The action thriller was made on an estimated budget of Rs 200 crore.
