ZEE5’s upcoming original, The Siege: Chhabbis Gyarah, was shot at multiple real locations to recreate the events of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The 8-episode miniseries is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s best-selling novel ‘Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11.

The team apparently took special permissions to shoot at a secluded defence base where the NSG commandos had gathered before they took the flight to Mumbai on that fateful day. They also secured special permissions to shoot in the same aircraft, IL – 76 which was used by the commandos. The location was a high-security zone and the team shot there with a limited crew.

Sharing his experience Abhimanyu Singh, Producer Contiloe Pictures said, "We are extremely thankful to the authorities to let us shoot in the IL 76 which carried the commandos for Operation Black Tornado. Having Col Sudeep Sen during filming was of great help as he was able to guide us through all the protocols and recreate all that happened that night of 26/11 when the commandos travelled to liberate Mumbai from its attackers.”

Produced by Abhimanyu Singh and directed by Matthew Leutwyler, the series will shed light on hitherto unknown facts about the attacks. The cast comprises Arjan Bajwa, Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Sid Makkar, Tara Alisha Berry, Khalida Jaan, Jyoti Gauba, Roshni Sahota, Suzanne Bernert, Naren Kumar and Jason Shah.
