Vadivelu to be part of Kamal Haasan-AR Rahman's Thalaivan Irukkindran

Vadivelu, who was last seen in Vijay’s Mersal, will now be part of Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film, Thalaivan Irukkindran.  The announcement was made yesterday at the Ungal Naan music event hosted to celebrate Kamal’s 60th year in cinema.

While not much is known about the project, Thalaivan Irukkindran is said to be a sequel to Kamal Haasan’s 1992 hit, Thevar Magan. Jointly produced by Raajkamal Films International and Lyca Productions, the film will have music by AR Rahman. It is notable that Vadivelu was part of Thevar Magan as well.

Thalaivan Irukkindran was originally planned as a Hindi-Tamil bilingual with Kamal playing the lead in Tamil and Saif Ali Khan leading the Hindi version. But there is no official word on this at the moment.

Vadivelu, meanwhile, was supposed to headline Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikesi, the sequel to his 2006 hit comedy. However, production was halted after creative differences crept in between director Shankar, who was producing the project, and Vadivelu. The current status of the project is unclear.
