Karan Johar faced Twitter heat today when he ‘liked’ an unsavoury tweet abusing Shah Rukh Khan and comparing him to Akshay Kumar. In the tweet, a fan named Mannu Yadav had compared the first day collections of SRK’s Zero with Akshay’s Kesari, which is co-produced by Karan. Based on the historic Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari has opened to a collection of Rs 21 crores nett, making it the biggest opening yet of 2019.

Reacting to what seemed like an accident on Karan’s part, fans slammed the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director and made #ShameOnKaranJohar trend on Twitter. The online furore was followed by a humorous call for peace by Shah Rukh, who blamed the mistake on Karan’s fat fingers, as well as an apology by Karan.

Karan tweeted,

Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar last worked together in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, where the actor did a cameo. Karan's upcoming directorial venture is Takht, starring Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
