We had previously reported that Jai, who was last seen in Jarugandi, will play a superhero in debutant director Andrew Pandian's fantasy drama, titled Breaking News. The first look poster of the film, featuring Jai standing with his back towards the camera, looking at what appears to be an exploding building, was released in February.

Andrew had earlier said to CE that the film will be a fantasy drama about how a common man turns superhero to transform India into a paradise. Now the director has revealed the complete plot of the film in a recent press interaction.

Breaking News apparently revolves around a software engineer, Jeevan, played by Jai, and being an activist, he fights against injustice, and his wife also separates from him unable to change him. However, he gets special powers after getting hit by a meteor, which causes chemical reactions and makes him a superhero. Jeevan has to stop two villains, who come up with a dangerous project to destroy earth lands.

The film, which is said to involve 450 CG artists and ninety minutes of CGI, is produced by Norway-based producer, K Thirukadal Udhayam. Bhanusree of Telugu Bigg Boss Season 2 fame will be seen as the female lead while Dev Gill and Rahul Dev play the villain brothers.
