Veteran actor Mohan Babu to make a comeback to Tamil cinema after almost 40 years in Suriya's Soorarai Pottru

Suriya, who was last seen in Selvaraghavan's NGK, is busy shooting for his next, Soorarai Pottrudirected by Irudhi Suttru filmmaker, Sudha Kongara. The latest update about the film is that veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu has been signed to play a pivotal, performance-oriented role.

Sources close to the unit say that the Mahanati actor has joined the sets of the film and has started shooting for his portions. Mohan Babu was last seen in Tamil in the 1980 Rajinikanth-starrer, Guru.

Soorarai Pottru starring Sarvam Thaala Mayam-actor Aparna Balamurali as the heroine, is speculated to be based on the life of famous entrepreneur, GR Gopinath, the founder of India's first budget airline, Air Deccan.

Famous Hollywood stunt choreographer Greg Powell, who has to his credit big budget films like Skyfall, Fast and Furiousand Bourne Ultimatum, recently joined the film's crew in its first schedule in Chhattisgarh.

The film, jointly produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga, has cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy of U-Turn fame and editing by Sathish Suriya. Soorarai Pottru will incidentally mark the first collaboration between music director GV Prakash Kumar and Suriya.
