The audio of Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja, the second venture from Sivakarthikeyan Productions, was released today. The film, directed by Karthik Venugopalan starring Rio Raj and Shirin Kanchwala in the female lead, with a supporting cast that includes Nanjil Sampath and RJ Vigneshkanth, has music by Sagaa-fame Shabir.

Actor and producer Sivakarthikeyan followed his pattern of revealing his next project at an audio launch by announcing his third production today. Sivakarthikeyan is set to collaborate with Aruvi-director Arun Prabu in a film that will feature only new faces.

Arun is set to direct a script written by Kutti Revathi, which will have music by Pradeep Kumar. Shelly Calist and Raymond Crasta have been roped in as the cinematographer and editor, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja audio launch kicked off with a rendition of Vazhiyadhu by Sahana, a visually-challenged young singer. After this, the team of Kanaa, which was Sivakarthikeyan's first production venture, took the stage and expressed their gratitude to fans.

Actor Mayilsamy, who took the stage next, spoke about what made him choose this project. "One thing that immediately impressed me was the title, Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja, which is taken from thalaivar MGR's song. I never ask my directors about the story. My job is to act and my only condition is I won't mouth double-meaning dialogues," he said.

The event then proceeded with the felicitation of Kumaran Kumanan, who wrote Thuppuna thodachukuvom, a song from the film.

Veteran politician Nanjil Sampath, who plays a supporting role in the film, spoke at length about Kalaignar Karunanidhi on the occasion of the latter's 96th birthday and recalled his famous quote about how art and artists never die.

RJ Vigneshkanth, who also plays a supporting role, outlined the general theme of Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja, stating that it would talk about societal politics. "Just because it has YouTube stars doesn't mean that it will be an internet film that caters only to our subscriber base. It will be a commercial entertainer with a message at the end."

Music director Shabir spoke about how maestro Ilaiyaraaja influenced him in becoming a composer. He also added that two Ilaiyaraaja songs are used in the film.

The film's hero Rio Raj thanked director Karthik Venugopalan and Vigneshkanth for seeing the actor in him even before he himself did, and trusting that he could play the lead.

The director, for his part, said he believed that films are largely celebratory in nature in our state and promised that Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja will be no different. "It will be a celebration of both thought and humour," he said.

The actor then took a moment to discuss his latest release, Mr Local, which has been getting a lot of criticism for its content. Stating that he has been taking the feedback of people, Sivakarthikeyan promised his fans that his films would be more to their liking, moving forward.

Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja is scheduled to hit screens on June 14.
