Emma Roberts to star in Rajamouli's RRR?

Rumours suggest that SS Rajamouli, who is currently stationed in the US, has approached the American actor and singer for the role

Published: 23rd July 2019

After British actor Daisy Edgar Jones backed out from RRR citing personal reasons, director SS Rajamouli considered several names — including Parineeti Chopra, Nithya Menen, and Amy Jackson — as her replacement, but none worked out. Rumours now suggest that the Baahubali director, who is currently stationed in the US, has approached American actor and singer Emma Roberts for the role.

It is also learnt that the director has requested that she do a secret look test for the part before finalising her for the project. There are speculations going around that some changes have been made to the film's script to increase the 28-year-old actor's contribution to the plot. However, an official confirmation on these developments is awaited.

The team of RRR has already wrapped up a schedule each in Hyderabad and Baroda with Jr NTR and Ram Charan, and the next schedule is expected to commence in Pune in August, when Alia Bhatt will likely join the proceedings.

RRR also features Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn as Ram Charan’s father, while Tamil actor Samuthirakani has been signed on for a crucial role as well.

Produced by DVV Danayya, RRR, which is being shot in Telugu on a budget of Rs 300 crore, will also be dubbed into Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and several other Indian languages. The film is slated for release on July 30, 2020.
