Taapsee Pannu takes dig at Sandeep Reddy Vanga in hate crime tweet
Reacting to the news of a Nagpur man smashing his girlfriend’s skull over her ‘character’, Taapsee Pannu got sarcastic about the Kabir Singh director’s comments

Taapsee Pannu on Monday lay into Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s comments about violence being an ‘honest’ expression of love.
In a cryptic tweet, Taapsee, reacting to a news article about a Nagpur man who smashed his girlfriend's skull over her ‘character’, wrote:
Or maybe let’s just say they were madly in love with each other n this ‘act’ was to validate his TRUE love for her. https://t.co/BGmhA7XHyM

In an earlier interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had defended the violent tendencies of his protagonist (played by Shahid Kapoor). “When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman, and vice versa, there’s a lot of honesty in it. If you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don’t see anything there,” he had said.
Discussing a scene from the film, the director had added: “If you can’t slap, and if you can’t touch your woman wherever you want, and if you can't slap and you can't kiss and you can't use cuss words, I don’t see emotion there.”
Meanwhile, Taapsee’s tweet did not amuse some social media users, who criticised her comment as inappropriate and elitist. Responding to her trolls, Taapsee wrote:
Statutory warning: people with no sense of sarcasm kindly ignore me n my tweet. Thank you , it was nice not knowing you https://t.co/OhIeOd6ZYf
