Over the past few days, it was widely reported that Dhanush and Vetri Maaran's Vada Chennai 2 was shelved. Putting an end to all these speculations, Dhanush took to Twitter today to announce that the film is surely happening.
Vada Chennai, the first part of what has been conceived as a trilogy, was released last year to widespread critical and commercial acclaim. Starring Ameer, Samuthirakani, Aishwarya Rajessh, and Andrea Jeremiah in important roles, the first part ended on a cliffhanger teasing the rise of Dhanush as the messiah of the local community.
The rumours about the shelving of the project first surfaced when there were reports about the North Chennai community being unhappy with their portrayal in the gangster film.
Meanwhile, this tweet from Dhanush himself, and his production company, Wunderbar Films, has also put to rest speculations about the shutting down of the Maari 2 actor's production house.
Dhanush and Vetri Maaran are currently busy filming Asuran, the big-screen adaptation of Poomani's celebrated Tamil novel, Vekkai. With music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Velraj, Asuran is bankrolled by S Thanu under his V Creations banner.
Vetri Maaran and Dhanush are expected to start working on Vada Chennai 2 after wrapping up Asuran.
