Balakrishna goofs up title of Kalyan Ram's 118, gets trolled on social media
Instead of referring to the film’s title as 118, Balayya called it 189
To err is human, and actor Balakrishna proved that he is no exception when he made a mistake at the pre-release gig of his nephew and actor Kalyan Ram’s upcoming film, 118. The 58-year-old actor, who was trolled by netizens for his mumbling speech and his inability to recall the lyrics of Saare Jahan se Achcha during the recently held Telangana assembly elections, has left movie buffs dumbfounded yet again. Balakrishna was the chief guest of at the 118 event along with Jr NTR. And while there, he blundered several times when mentioning the film’s title, calling it 189 instead of 118.
Even though Kalyan Ram tried to correct the mistake, the Mahanayakudu actor continued his speech without paying heed and his endless gaffe has caused an embarrassment to the film's makers.
Complimenting the film’s director for his work, Balayya said, “From starting his career as an associate to PC Sreeram, Guhan has become a successful cinematographer. He turned director with a Tamil film and is now making his Telugu debut with 189. I wish him a glorious career in Telugu cinema.”
Soon after the event was completed, many individuals made fun of Balakrishna and even shared funny memes on the matter.
How embarrassing it is when the chief guest doesn't know what is the movie name (doesn't matter if he is related or not to the main lead)! Mistakes happened but Balaaya was seating right in front of the screen the entire time! #118PreReleaseEvent #Balakrishna #118Movie— Amogha (@amogha20) February 25, 2019
Surprisingly, the event didn’t find any mention of Balakrishna’s latest release, NTR Mahanayakudu, and the mood among the fans and the Nandamuri camp seems to hint that their expectations for the film were not met at the box office. Directed by Krish, the biopic has been declared as an epic disaster by trade in the history of Telugu cinema.
Also starring Nivetha Thomas and Shalini Pandey, 118 is produced by Mahesh S Koneru under East Coast Productions. Sekhar Chandra has scored the music for the film, which is slated for release on March 21.
