Malayalam filmmaker Nayana Suryan passes away

Filmmaker Nayana Suryan was found dead at her Thiruvananthapuram residence. She was 28.
A native of Alappad, Karunagapalli, Nayana began her film career as an associate of the late Lenin Rajendran through his 2011 directorial, Makaramanju, which starred Santhosh Sivan, Karthika Nair, Nithya Menon and Mallika Kapoor in the lead roles. The film upon its release emerged as a critical success and won the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Malayalam Film at the International Film Festival of Kerala.
Later, she worked in Mammootty's Utopiayile Rajavu directed by Kamal, and Akashathinte Niram directed by Dr Biju. In 2017, she directed Pakshikalude Manam, which was part of an anthology called Crossroad. She has also directed several ads and stage shows in both India and abroad.
Details regarding Nayana Suryan's death are yet to be revealed.
