Filmmaker Narayan’s second son, Pavan, is making his acting debut with Muthu-Rathna. Even though Muthu-Rathna marks his debut as a hero, Pavan’s first stint in front of the camera begins with Santhosh Ananddram’s upcoming directorial, Yuvarathnaa.

Yuvarathnaa, starring Puneeth Rajkumar, features Pavan as a college student. “There is a lot of difference between being part of a cast, and playing the lead,” says Pavan, who has decided to face the camera after gaining experience in his father’s production house for 10 years.

“Initially, the thought of facing the camera and acting in front of a crowd made me afraid. In spite of being an actor-director’s son, I realised that I have a lot to learn in acting. So, I got trained under Abhinaya Taranga and this gave me a confidence boost,” says the newcomer, who has been part of a couple of theatre plays.

Muthu-Rathna, to be made by debutant director Srikanth Hunsur, features a host of newcomers. Pavan will start shooting for the film on December 9. Anjana, who is known for her Tamil serials, has been paired opposite him in the film. Muthu-Rathna has music by Loki, an erstwhile keyboard player of Hamsalekha, and cinematography by Krishna.
